Random Quote: I caught wind that the fish were biting here... though it could have just been someone passing gas...
I am reading about cobia being caught "sight fishing". that is how I caught them in Florida but don't know much about the chumming style. If I were coming from the MMBT how far would I have to run to get clear enough water to sight fish for cobia? CBBT is just too far. I am coming from the Ft Eutis area up the James.
From the Ft. Eustis - go out of the dare marina area and hit York Spit and surrounding buoys for sight fishing... easier to chum in that area, but sometimes you can sight cast for them.
check Blue fish rock. Couple bags of chum on the top and bottom. Fish oil off the stern too. I usually fish 4 lines......2 on the bottom with fish finders and 2 on top with bobbers. I'm having a brain fart right now....but I think you want to be sitting in 16ft of water......good luck
Also keep your eyes out the rays that come up to sun themselves. There have been thousands of them around the 3rd and 4th islands. You will find cobia swimming with them or under them.
Yes...that's the cobia (Florida) fishing I knopw and love. Thanks. The CCBT unfortunatly is too long of a haul down the James. Might make it to Blue fish rock if I am pushing it.
