Anyone ever boat/fish up that way? I am in the upper Chesapeake not far from the C&D canal, want to make the run to see if there is any life out that way. Mileage-wise it looks to be about the same as running down to Pooles Island, but not a lot of strong reports down there - running to the Bay Bridge is a 2+ hour ordeal. Is that part of the Delaware bay still salt?

Any local knowledge or advice, or is it a wasted trip?

Pea Patch Island doesnt offer too much. When the canal empties into the Delaware that is pretty much the salt line.. maybe a little higher or lower depending on how much rain you get. We keep out boat at Anchor now but used to trailer to Delaware City and make run down canal to Bohemia area.
Great for a boat ride...but imho thats it.
