Ho long does it take to get to the Chesapeake Bay?
From DC you can be in Annapolsi in about 40 minutes with light traffic. Weekends through Annapolis can be horrible if you dont time it right as the only way to Ocean city MD is over the Bay Bridge.

I live in Lake Ridge and dry store my boat at Belvoir. Not the best marina, but cheap, secure, and 24 hour access. From Lorton you'd be 5 mins from the marina.

There are some big fish in the Potomac if you want local fishing. I've gotten into 50+ lb cats and stripers(when they're here...) but a lot of guys store they're boats on the bay. Annapolis is a zoo, Colonial Beach is close and good fishing.

We're leaving here for NC next summer...

Annapolis is a zoo. Best fishing is March and April before everyone else hits the water. However Annapolis is a GREAT cruising area.

You can also trailer a little farther down to Coles Point, Lewissetta or all the way to Reedville to hit the mid bay. There is a public boat ramp up the road from me that is little known. pmail me if you go this way and I will give you the location of the boat ramp. After putting in you would be about 30 minutes by water to the middle bay. Your drive would be about 2.5 hours.

dont forget about Ft Monroe marina in Hampton. Reasonable for military. one minute from CBBT (thats a stretch but its close).
I used to live in Arlington and make the drive every friday night to fish sat. and sunday, but the drive was awful in summr traffic.
I like the previous posts about col. beach or closer.
BTW, that's quite a long run to the lower Bay, and bumpy in a 21'. good luck.

I think he means The Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel. The CBBT is several miles east of Ft Monroe but still easily doable, weather/winds permitting.

We head up on the 29th. The movers come on the 26th, the day after we get back from Orlando. The Army is sending us to a marriage retreat. They do this for Soldiers who deployed to Iraq. They pay for everything and we are staying at a resort at Universal. I will have a few days of paperwork and then I get 10 days to get my things together before I report for work. I am bringing the boat up and will probably store it at the The place you told me about. Thanks for asking.

Okay cool! We'll have to get together after you get up....not only because I like to buy servicemembers a beer...but so that I can make fun of you for being an Army puke.
