A friend of mine purchased a boat in MD. He boats in MD and VA and purchased a trailer in VA with VA registration for when in VA.
He was wondering if it is ok to have his boat registered in MD but his trailer registered in VA. I had no idea.
As explained to me by the Md. MVA. One is land and the other is sea. They are registered individually. CaptKennyW said it right, you need a valid address for wherever you register them and the rest is up to you.
It is ok to have the boat and trailer registered in different states. You should register the trailer where you are resident (permanent home, driver's license, etc.) and the boat in the state of primary use.
i live in MD, registered boat in Md and registered the trailer in Maine, alot cheaper, no inspections or MVA bs to go through and it cost me $87 for 5 years.
