I dont fish in the river but I would chum, jig or light tackle troll around balt light, belv. shoals, podickory point, love point. etc All are just outside of the Magothy. look for contours, holes, bottom changes from soft to hard bottom, etc.

Also check out Tidalfish.com as there are a bunch of magothy fishermen there. (I will be keeping my boat on the magothy next year too)

Saw your first post on Tidalfish and meant to respond. Try the mouth of the river by Gibson Is rockpile (north side) on an outgoing tide. This place "rocks" in the fall on topwaters. I've always been pretty successful out there throwing jigs and plastic. I usually anchor up and just work the rocks during the tide for the schoolies and the occasional bigun'. Very shallow there and some submerged pilings. You'll see me in a 16' CC Carolina Skiff with a bow mounted pedestal chair.

You need to ask that question at http://www.tidalfish.com Look specifically for Norm Bartlett's response
