Default Chester PA launch ramp

Hey all- looked at a few launch ramps in philly area and Chester (base of the commadore barry Bridge) is most convienent. My concern is the tides, are you only able to launch there at high tide? At low tide, I'm not sure how a passenger, after parking the truck, would get into the boat, no ladder and the dock is well above the water. Thanks in advance for any help.

Also, does anyone have the exact address for the launch ramp in delaware city, de?

I never personally used that ramp in Chester, but a few friends have used it. They don't like it because they worry about their vehicles while they are out in the Delaware. Most of them use the marina owned by Ridley township, (formally Morrows Marina), which is at the end of Swarthmore Ave. in Ridley Park, Pa. Only draw back is the extra time it takes to get oout to the river. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...,0.007145&om=1

Thanks. I heard there were tide issues to launch at Ridley as well. Maybe I'll just use the Frankford Arsenal launch, more traffic to get there, but nicer ramp and better parking there.

Stay away from chester boat ramp. Too many safety issues. Del City has nice state ramps. Take 95 s. exit at 72, turn left, straight into del city, immediately after going over bridge turn left and straight to the ramp.. Piece of cake.

Thanks, I'll be using Delaware city quite a bit, it's only about a 45 min drive. My directions are to go 95S to Rt.1 exit, then delaware city exit (but not sure where the public ramps are from there) and head straight into delaware city. You don't happen to have an address I can map out. Thanks.

The ramp is at Fort Dupont State Park

Take 95 to rt 1 (S) for abt 10 miles. Take left onto Rt72 go abt 5 miles and you CAN NOT miss it. You will pass over a canal and then next left into the state park.

The ramp is nice and the dock is excellent. There is a nice restauraunt there as well. We have found that the river is very dirty there though. One nice thing is that you are very close to the C&D Cannal which is wide, deep, and clean.

While down on the river at that point be very careful of the the area around Pea Patch Island. There is a rock jedi there which helpd protect from the large shipping vessels. The rocks are very tricky. We saw a 27ft cruiser complrtly out of the water last year. The Coast Guard was trying to help, but I bet the boat was not in good shape after that
