Can't help with Rudee since we usually stay further up at Little Creek. You may get a lot more responses if you post this over on Tidalfish ... go to the Virgina Angler Board.

We would like to get a slip if possible, but due to work we never get to make plans for a definite date so it's always go when we can. We'll be fishing out of a 22' Lund Baron Magnum.

Tough to find slips in Rudee over the winter...if you're looking for a day here/day there you may get some space...try Fisherman's Wharf Marina or the Rudee Inlet fishing Ctr...and see what they have to say.

Good luck!

Glenn

ps - eat at Big Sams right next to the fishing center...small local place with good eats.

I wouldn't count out Little Creek or Lynnhaven inlets. I am reasonably sure there are some transient slips at either. Launching at the public ramp was pretty good too if you want to re-trailer at the end of the day. The run to the ocean is a little further obviously but not by much.

Unless rules have changed the Bay season will be closed in Jan (RIGHT?). It sounds like you're trailering the boat. Why not just stay at any Motel on the ocean front (10 min drive from Owls Creek public boat ramp) and splash the boart at Owls Creek for free and enjoy life? Little Creek and Lynhaven are good places for what you want but you have run east for about 8 to 10 miles to the "ocean". The debarkation line is at the Lighthouse at Cape Henry- don't get caught fishing west of there after 31 Dec. Go to Lighthouse Tackle (757) 318-3818 to find out where the fish are. If you still need more help call me in early Dec and I'll find you a place to suit your needs. 757-587-9401. Good luck-tight lines

All the marinas have waiting lists, so the hotel/trailering to the ramp deal is your only option. Do yourself a favor and check the inlet before you head for the ramp. We seem to lose a few fisherman each year because they're not familiar with running an inlet, don't check it beforehand, and/or go out in boats not suited for the conditions.
I'd also try to plan your trip to fish during the week, the weekend crowds are getting out of hand. A 1-1/2 hour wait to splash your boat is not uncommon when the bite and the weather cooperate.
PS You should be here now,the Spec fishing in Rudee is going off!

You can actually look at Rudie inlet on a surfing website webcam . I believe the website is called surfline, They have a webcam that you can actually see the inlet and the people surfing beside the jetty . We used this site last year to check out the inlet before driving an hour and 15 minutes . Its a pain to drive that far and not to be able to get out of the inlet. If you cant find the site send me a buzz and I will look it up .
