Random Quote: If you can't run with the big dogs stay on the porch
After Mako's, Grady Whites, and two Contenders, we could not be happier with our Venture 34, going into it's 4th fishing season. The depth of quality of the build really reduces the rate of aging, especially in the salt environment. It's always comforting to see that wholesale changes don't occur very often in good quality equipment, a tweak here and a tweak there. I didn't see any boat built of any better quality at the show.
I recently went out on a 34 with twin 225 or 250 yammies, I can't remember which, and it rode great, but slow. It was grossly underpowered. We cruised at 4900 rpm at 30 mph. We did that in 4-6 following seas and didn't slap once. It was up and down, of course, but not one slap. Nice riding boat and very fishable. I like some of the little things that make sense, like the scuppers on the side with a pullle catcher and the drain all the way across the back against the transom that led the blood and water to the scuppers. It was easy to keep clean while fishing. A bucket of water every now and then washed everything out. I like it.

Beenie: Something is wrong. I own a 34 with an early pair of Yami 225's which are really good for about 208 each. The boat is no rocket ship, but will top out at about 45 and will make about 40 mph at 4900. That's with Yamaha SWS 17's. I've run several other combinations, including Rev 4's and Enertias.
