I've always been a fan of the "Classic" Whalers. The older more simple designs that are what made Whaler a well known quality brand. I have been 84 miles offshore in my old 91 Outrage 25. The boat was great, caught alot of Tuna on it...Unfortunately, the newer ones just don't do it for me. The designs are not attractive at all...The prices are insane and all the gadgets that will fail, oh and the wiring is crap on all the new ones I looked at. My old 91 had crappy wiring but the NEW MODELS should look as good as YF, SeaVee and Contender. etc. I ended up selling my 91 Outrage this year (sold in 28 days!!) and bought a leftover Contender....

There are too many other boats in this range with much better performance and more importantly better fit and finish. Don't get me wrong I love my 26 OUTRAGE, it is the perfect fit for our family and needs. It's a 99 hull with twin Yamaha 225 OX66 Saltwater Series on her stern.
If I ever step up to the plate again, the Whaler wouldn't even make the "Short List".

Beauty of course is in the eye of the beholder, I happen to think my Whaler has very nice lines. Looked at a 31' Intrepid Walkaround last year, worst fishing layout ever and I would not buy a boat from a company that donated the maximum to the O'bama campaign.

I think bracket boats such as Regulator, 31' Jupiters, Dusky's, etc are FUGLY.
