Have to agree about the ride, that bow seems barley to come down when fully on plane. Good thing they designed a small step ladder at the helm, looks like it will be needed.
Re: New Whaler model ......... 370 Outrage video on the water
Debated whether to post on this thread given that it has turned into nothing more than a Whaler bash but guess I am a little board.
Some facts:
1) The 370 at the Miami show was the first one built and as typical of trying to make a show debut deadline some of the less visible finish work and details were hurried a bit to make the date. Anyone who works in R&D (I do) knows this is pretty typical of an alpha unit. When you run out of time that is it, out the door and to the show it goes. Paying some kid $100 to clean it up is not an option as there is just no time. The wiring in those pictures is not typical of Whaler quality. You can debate all you want whether it should go out that way but it is a marketing call.
2) Not sure where the $450,000 came from but the boat show price was $358,995. If someone is going to add $90,000 in options and electronics that is their choice.
3) Yes, they did in fact sell some 370's at the show.
4) Whaler builds multi use boats by design. Their Outrage line is not hard core fishing but geared more towards being a "good" fishing platform that also would appeal to wives and family.

gs ......
Avoice of reason in the wilderness. It's funny how our Whaler's get us where we want to go just like the other boats ..... imagine that. This is my 6th &not one has fallen apart, sunk, or ever failed me in any fashion. To each his own. Enjoy whatever you have!
just saw the 37 in AC. real nice rig, seat up front is great, good size cuddy, I like the side door, helm seats are great, lots of rod storage, live wells and the retrackable sun shade is nice. My wife loved it. Which says two things, one it is designed with the whole family in mind and two it is not a pure fishing boat. At closer to $400k than 300K its a bit over priced in the 36+ ft CC. IMO
I saw her on Sat in AC as well. It was my favorite boat at the show. Its like an express boat in a center console package. It'd be perfect for my family anyway as it would satisfy my parents need for cruising and my need for fishing. MSRP was around 500k but the boat show price as mentioned above was around the 400k mark. My dad was considering it up until the point in which he went on the 345 Conquest. Game over.

It has some really nice features for sure, but I'm not a fan of the lines at the stern. I don't like how the rub rail fades down towards the bottom on that diagonal. If they kept the lines (rub rail) clean and straight along the top of the gunnels I'd like it. That seems to be BW's new signature and I wish they'd go back to their roots for a more classic look.
my buddy just called me 15 minutes ago as they were pushing off the pier to sea trial the 37 outrage at whalertowne in annapolis...i'll let you know what he says. although, he's drunk the kool-aid a bit...and currently owns a mid-90s 23 outrage.
I’m not sure about how possible some of the things you mention would be, but there is one setting that may interest you, if you haven’t seen it already
This is not a boat built for the hardcore fishing crowd that hangs out on this board. The target buyers for this boat will likely not look at the wiring and the other poor features that have been pointed out. They will buy it and expect to have their marina deal with any repairs.
Nice boat with many nice "amenities". The problem with a lot of these "amenities", is that they end up being things that need to be repaired. I think the fewer moving parts the better. Having said that, it is bigger and faster than my boat....but mine has definitely caught more fish!

Boat shows are for impressing and showing potential customers what seperates you from all the other options and why someone should buy your product. Given the myriad number of fishing and boating forums was it not predictable that presenting the product in this manner would ultimately end up on the World Wide Web and threads such as this? The Marketing call to send an unfinished, alpha unit or whatever you want to call it, under the present economic conditions, to a high profiled marketing venue was poor at best.

Im with you, almost better to send it as a hull with wires neatly bundled and not even landed. That way there is no discussion of the fact that the boat is not ready for use.
Is it just me or is that auto table in the front the stupidist thing you have ever seen on a fishing boat? What the hell were they thinking... That thing will break and be full of fishing guts in no time. What a waste this boat is...
