I would say the Blackwood is the response and direct competitor to the Everglades 243...a family oriented bay boat.

When I saw it at the show I missed the anchor that is an unusual feature for this style boat.

Did anyone catch the price?

I checked out the website and it has no information on the "blackwood". It only says "Unveiled Summer 2008", nothing else.

I had the opportunity to take a blackwood 27 for a test ride yesterday. Twin 300 Verados and 2.5 - 3.5 chop in the ashley river here in charleston sc made for a winner!! Boat is as solid as they come. Attention to detail is superb. 4 people on board and 60 gallons of fuel neted 71.4 mph on gps in the chop. Driest boat I have ever been on, size and height considered. Not one drop of water got us on a 20-25mph windy day. I can honestly say I would not be worried one bit on a four foot day offshore, more than that and any boat is gonna be rough.

it can be had in Naples, Fl with twin 250 verados and an aluminum trailer w/ electric brakes for around $100k

i can say for the boat if you want to run 75+ and look good doing it, then this boats for you. but for real fishing inshore or off i'd recommend a different vessel.*

i've done a sea trial on two of the blackwoods. one was equipped w/ 250s the other w/ 300s (<over powered) and the 300s did 78*^ mph and was bad heavy aft. the one with 250s seemed lighter in the back and did 74*^. keep in mind these are not gps certified numbers but it "felt right".

either way there are better inshore boats and there are better offshore boats. but if you had a smooth day you could run out and you can run big water in big bays if you need to.

*inshore = shallower, offshore = more freeboard
*^ unloaded one man and 1/4 fuel basically dry
