You took the words right out of my mouth!!! WTF is up with those things???

That has to be a mistake.
And the missing boot strip on the transom looks odd..
but I'd take one..
It's actually not the vents it's the stripes(or the break in the stripes that makes them stand out). If you look at a boat with the stripes removed or an older boat with the logo at the stern and no cabin stripes the vents almost "disappear" and it looks very normal. The vents could be a little more stylish but are definately not a mistake. I believe this is one of the "problems" Mac Privott corrected/improved when he left Albemarle and started building boats all on his own. By moving the vents high on sides of the cabin you get them further out of the spray . The vents on the Albemarle's look good but from what I understand with them being located right at the end of the "flare" and low on the hull they take on alot more water and salt spray in rough weather. As far as the boot stripe goes I don't think Carolina Classic has ever put a boot stripe on the transom of any of their boats (look at the photo of grey lion's boay above) why I am not sure..............
The vents are designed so that water is less likely to enter the engine compartment. That's why Mac put them above the shearline and not in the hull itself.
Once you experience the ride of a CC, the appearance of the vents will not bother you at all....as a matter of fact, I like them. It reminds me this is a no-bullsh*t rough-water fishing boat.
I have been on that very boat.........Bennett Long (Bluewater Yacht Sales) in Orange Beach showed it to me when I came by to drool on a 28 they had for sale......
A fishing boat that you can fish off the back of, what a concept. For fishing I much prefer this over a triple or quad outboard CC, just leave earlier = arrive at same time
