Did the 262 feel small? I really like the Scout lines but every time I get on one I always feel it should be advertised as being two feet smaller.........but I have not been on the 262.
The 262 maybe a tad smaller than say the Pursuit OS 255. That's one I looked carefully at the Cleveland boat show 3 weeks ago. My girl friend like the fact that the Scout had an enclosed bathroom, and so do I. I don't know why the scout doesn't have the livewell at the transom instead of under a damn seat. The lines of both the Pursuit and the Scout are nice. The scout at the Cleveland boat show had a sign that listed it at $120,000 ("Boat show price"). Ha, The Pursuit was priced around $94,000, no trailer, no A/C, No outriggers. What was included in the Scout price for $88,000? Enclosures? A/C? Windlass? Outriggers? There was a Grady White 258 Journey at teh show that the salesman said he wanted to sell it so bad it was priced at 5% over their cost (I think I remember around $85,000). Of course no trailer. The boating industry needs more transparency about pricing.

Re: Scouts?
The 262 I looked at (for about an hour) was marked down from $110. It was the only one in the area between two dealers, and actually the dealer showing it didn't own it, it was the other local dealer. They definitely wanted it gone. It did not have A/C, it did have 15' Tacos, Cockpit and T-top lightings, two livewells (1 built into the leaning post and the other on the rear starboard gunnel) No electronics, twin Yam 150s, basically it had everything but A/C and electronics.
But I will say that Scout makes one hell of a boat. My dad got a 350 Abaco last summer, and ever since I've wanted to sell my Contender and get a Scout. I'll probably finish my last year of school then do it.
Size wise it really wasn't bad, it pretty much felt like a 26. Although if/when I get on it's gonna be a 282, the extra two feet really does make a difference. I would seriously recommend yall check em out.
RunBum,
I was referring to the Abaco 262. I don't believe it has a leaning-post livewell. Are you sure you got the price right on the Abaco 262 ( walk around/express)? Tahnks for your help.

Re: Scouts?
Oh, I'm sorry. For some reason thought you meant the 262 SF. I did look at the 262 Abaco that they had right beside it however. It was nice, but there was ONE, quite small, fishbox on the whole boat. The first thing the dealer told me was, (since he knew I fish) was that I did not want a 262 Abaco, for that very reason. Otherwise it's a very nice boat, like all the Scout's. It does have a 20 Gallon livewell behind the helm seat. I'm not sure of the price they were asking though, sorry.
Can crouch into the head on the 26, perhaps a smaller girlfriend fits in OK. Anyone know what's under the port side berth? Abaco 26 could use some extra storage space and that area seems underutilized. If you get AC it goes under forward berth, leaving you with even less space.
RunBum- you guys need an extra uncle in your family? An 07 Contender 31T while still in school?

Re: Scouts?
haha, yeah she's a great boat. I'm looking for an express now for myself. Tryin to find a Scopinich.
Not sure what's inside the 262 Abaco cabin, I never stepped down below, but the dealer did mention what you just said about the A/C. If I were goin for an Abaco it would be the 350, gorgeous!!

Scout makes a sexy boat but for a fisherman to leave a contender for a Scout? I am suprised to hear you say that. We were a Scout family for YEARS. The Contender definatly lacks the creature comforts but for week in and week out fishing the Contender has been a much better option. I have not riden in a 350 Abaco though. I would love to see some pictures of your Dad's if you have any handy.

Re: Scouts?
Yep I'll find some. But yea, here in Norfolk, from my Yacht Club, it's a 40 minute run just to get to the ocean, then a long haul to the Canyons. And I like to cruise and chill with friends too, so the Contender sucks in that regard. There are no seats, and girls like to sit and lay out. I love my Contender, I'm just not sure she's the "right" boat for me at this time, ya know?

I got you. 40 minute run to the ocean? Wow, I complain about my 15 minute run. Sounds like the Scout is a better option for you. Do post some pics of your Dad's boat I would love to see some pics of a personalized 350.
