Your at a good point in life, really. Eventually we all burn out the thrill of booze. Only the lucky ones figure out how to stand up to it. Suggest you pick up a book "How to Quit Drinking without AA" by Jerry Dorsman
http://www.amazon.com/How-Quit-Drink.../dp/076151290X and you don't have to call yourself an alcoholic to get wisdom from AA too. The book suggests you hang out at a couple meetings just to get some insight too.
Read and understand. For a lot of people drinking no longer feels good. It hurts, messes up our concentration, and for some it gets totally destructive. It's good to recognize it early. I like that book because it described why it's hard to stop drinking. I'm still working on it. Probably always will. Feels great to succeed on any given day...
