there are a couple of cape horn 24 owners on THT. a search will find them. there have been a few 'debates' on the subject as well.
cape horn is built right here, just a few blocks from my office. they're a home town company and i like to see them do well.

my opinions on your questions:
price: a little high for the value, but i think there are some regional differences in price.
power: you need 400 ponies on this boat. shes sort of heavy, but in a good way (big boned?)
reputation: excellent. small company that only makes 400 hulls a year. they answer the phone when you call
value: my opinion is not high, but its just my opinon. the current 24s are spartan at an above average price
quality: top tier, no question
weight: a bit on the heavy side. not a rocketshipe, but handles big water well.
numbers: ask around.
engine choice: not affiliated with any motor makers, so you are wide open with choices. the factory seems to be favoring e-tecs lately, but ive not actually talked to them about it.
full comparison: gotta do a search.

if you do lean towards the 24 cape, our local mckee dealer over in alabama is taking one in on trade right now. its green, and thats all i know. i dont know age/power or anything. but i can put you in touch. the current ower is trading in on a yellow mckee 24 freedom with 150 yams. i didnt ask why he was trading in the cape.

cheers.

thanks for the reply, your a real help and so knowledgeable... i love the mckee 24 over the ch24, i have a dealer pricing the windlass, overboard discharge head, and rear foldable bench seat with 200 four strokes.

and compare that price to the mckee 24 and see what the comparison is, equally optioned.

i do l LOVE that mckee can get zuke 175 from what i hear are bulletproof and would do wonders on this boat but cape horn is yami only.

thanks
drew

sincerely,

johnnie

I've crawled all over them both about a half dozen times.

I think they are an even matched comparison, but I'd give a slight nod to Cape Horn because I like the overbuilt strenght and I think it has more usable room, and I would be tickled pink with the mckee
also.

I'd test ride both, tour the factory if you can.
flip a coin or let the price guide you?

I see in the other thread a spat about stainless fittings.

I have seen rust drools from fittings on Capes also, but it was on older models and the stain on the gelcoat appeared to be leaking from the thru bolted portion, the fitting was not corroded.

I would not let that nonsense sway my decision....Mckee has a top notch reputation as does Cape Horn...

Hurry up and decide Johnnie........
