Mariners Online Program
Anyone thinking about or questioning the online program.. don't! It is an awesome program! I started with the online OUPV program in July of this year and have since succesfully completed it along with the 25/50/100 ton Masters with Towing endorsement programs. All I need to do now, is make a trip to the USCG. Hopefully by Xmas, there will be a present under the tree!
Thanks to Capt. Bob, his staff Lisa and Nikki, Happy Holidays all!

Basically the way I did it, was keep going over the material then take a test. I saved at least one of the 3 exams for the day of the proctored exam, just to stay fresh.
Anoth thing, don't over do it..take a day or so break. You would be surprised how much that helps.
Let us know how you do. Mariners also has a forum, lots of good info there.

Ron, I used Mariners School. You can get thier information from thier website at www.marinersschool.com
I started with the OUPV course in July, completed the Masters/Tow in December, received my license in January.
Nice thing about the online classes, you can work at your own pace. Get a few moments during the day, login and study...don't feel much like it the next day, don't worry about it!
Good luck!

If you buy the 6Pack course what other materials do you need to buy or is everything included?

Materials
If you purchase the online OUPV (6 Pack course), that is what you get. You will need to purchase the Masters/Tow materials in order to study and complete this course.

Proctored Exam
The proctored exam is conducted in one of our 200+ approved testing sites located all around the country. One of the conditions we needed to comply with for our Coast Guard approval was to ensure that it is actually you taking the test.
So testing is a two step process... First, as you proceed through the course when you complete a module there is an online test which you must pass with a 90%. When you complete all modules in your online course you are prepared to take what is called a proctored exam. This is simply an exam that is on the same material however, it is given by one of our instructors. This is just to verify that it is you taking the test.
When you take this proctored exam the Coast Guard only requires you to pass with a 70% on three of the four modules if you are taking the OUPV/six-pack course. So the thought process is if you can score a 90% at home there should be no reason that you cannot get a 70% when you come into one of our locations.
You have four hours to take the proctored exam, however, if you have done your work you should finish up in 2-2.5 hours.
You can get a complete listing of our testing locations at the MarinersSchool.com website.

Towing Endorsement
The Towing Endorsement is just one more module which is also available in an online format. This module should take about 4 hours to complete...
