Default AP for Twin F/150s on a 23'er

Leave the Gladiator stuff out please...

Options? Simrad sounds the most enticing off-the-cuff.

I definitely want virtual feedback if I can have it..... one less thing to install (and break).

If you want virtual feedback Simrad is your only option. You would need the AP1603VF.[*]Simrad AP1603[/list]

That link is your out-the-door-complete price? What do I need in addition to that kit?

Am I correct that the computer in that unit will NOT support the fast-update rate required for MARPA? If so, what's the upgrade cost (if its available) to be able to feed it back to my Garmin 3210 network (via NMEA) so I can enable MARPA on the plotter/radar?

I replied, not sure where it got to though The kit includes everything you need except the fittings for your steering setup and the hoses. If you call Simrad and tell them what you have, they can tell you what additional parts you need. The unit includes the RC36 compass which is as fast as it gets. it will certainly fulfill you Marpa requirements and will hook right up to your Garmin Power/Data Cable.

Jim, I thought the "10" series computer only had one NMEA input and was unable to feed it at high speed, and thus could not "feed" MARPA data back to the plotter network.....

Or is the scheme here to feed the rate compass directly to the Garmin along with the AP?

Ruggit, they work very well below 2 knots. Bitefish, you are right, the AC10 does not support High Speed Heading data. The AC10 has one nmea output while the AC20 has 2 and does support high speed heading. The unit that includes the AC20 is the AP1615VF and it costs $2487 which is about $300 more than the 1603. Thanks for the correction.
