Default Numerous problems with Lowrance X98 DF Sounder

Back in 2003 I bought a new Lowrance X98 DF depth sounder. I have had it returned about twice a year for numerous problems ranging from water in the display to a bad transducer. Lowrance was good in fixing the problems till the most recent one.

I called and they said the product was no longer under warrantee (now mind you have swapped units over 6 times since 2003.

So I asked if they would work a deal on a new depth sounder and I would pay the cost difference and that I was fed up with this one. The next time I pull it out its going in the trash.

I was told that they don't do that and i would now have to pay for all the repairs. Anyone else had this problem?

I thought these guys made good sounders, was the X98 a flop?

Do you have any connections to help? I have all the R/A numbers. I am looking at the new X107C to upgrade to, Yes I would pay the differance.

Sometimes it is all about who you talk with. I would call back and ask to speak with a manager/supervisor. Sometimes they will give a refurb unit, or a major discount on a new unit.

I have nobody I can talk to except my local rep. Lowrance's tech support number is the best way to get them to do something. Like Hotspot said, if you don't like the answer call them back a few minutes later and talk to somebody else.
