Default Auto Pilot Suggestion?

Boat - 246SF World Cat
Engines - twin 150 4s Suzuki
Rams - HC5345

I'm running a garmin 1040xs and a garmin 741xs, networked together. NMEA 2000 network is up and running and also have an x18hd dome.

Want to add an AP for 1 specific reason - un-man'd helm while offshore trolling. Typically i fish with just 1 other person. Would like to set the AP while driver leaves the helm to help clear lines / gaff a fish.

Totally fine if i could escape without a controller and could control through either of my MFD's.

Price concious and well if it's going to cost me 4k i will simply keep doing what ive been doing for years.

Thoughts??

Mike

The best option would be the Smart pump system but they run around 4k for the complete system. You could go with a GHP Reactor and the 2.1 liter pump which would save you around 1k roughly. Both these options would interface directly to your MFD's or could be controlled with the GHC 20 contoller.

Hello Chris. I have a 31' Contender with twin 250's and I'm wondering what I would be compromising by going with the smaller Garmin pump vs the SmartPump other than ease of set up. Please advise. Thanks!!!

The new Smartpump is a brushless design so it will last longer and use less power. It has brains too which make it more adaptable to any kind of hydraulic steering system meaning it will work more efficiently. None of these features are very tangible, but they are important.
