garmin plotter problem ok heres the deal have a 320c garmin plotter with the older style antenna, it was mounted on a adjustable ratchet type antenna base that allowed it to be adjusted where antenna was level on its axis.
i wanted to add another antenna on that side so i moved the garmin antenna to a perm pole mount so i could use the adjustable mount for vhf antenna
anyway now gps acts strange, takes a long time to acquire signal, and when approaching a waypoint sometimes it seems its confused and spins the compass indicating the course to the waypoint.
seems like its not accurate on where its telling me to go, i cant find wrecks i have always been able to locate
first question is now the antenna is on a perm pole mount, but is on the far port side of the t-top so the antenna is at a slight angle (not level on its axis) not straight up and down but leans to the side, could this be the problem?
also to run the wiring i had to remove the coax connector on the gps antenna, it seemed simple enough, it unscrewed and slid off, i re-installed it the same way it was, i wonder if this is the problem?
should i replace the connector and see? should i replace the antenna? or should i level the antenna out and see if this makes a diff?
thanks in advance for any input |
