Default Jim Need Help

Hi Jim,

I have a 30' Chris Craft Tournament. She has a very thick hull with a 21 deg deadrise. I also have a 4212 and a GSD 22. Can you explain which transducer I should use. B260 in hull, M260 thru hull or b258 thru hull at half the price of a b260 or the new 1kw transom mount? I hate to cut a hole in the bottom unless that is the very best way to go. I am in Mass and the waters I travel in range from 4' to 300'. I respect your opinion and appreciate any advice you can lend.

Thanks

Dale

The B258 or B260 would be what is normally installed up until a few years ago. Now there are flush mount thru hull options. I suggest the B164 - http://www.boemarine.com/Products/B1...6/Default.aspx

If your boat is an inboard as I suspect an ideal mounting position will be near or under the shafts in your bilge. So just aft of the engine and just forward of the stuffing box/stern tube.

Default B164

Hi Jim,
The boat has twin inboard 350's. Should I mount this between both motors in the middle of the boat? The engines are aprox mid ship prior to entering the cabin. Also I do not see a fairing block. Does this mean I do not need one? Is this the same unit as the 260 without the block?

Thanks

You do not need a fairing block with these. The performance is almost as good as a B260. You will not want to mount it on centerline. Just off centerline is fine, maybe a few inches to either side of the keel. You want to mount it pretty far back, just aft of the engines but in front of the shaft log is ideal.
