Do you have a Network Port Expander (GMS 10)? If so you don't need the NMEA wire--just fold them back and tape them. Use the Garmin Network cable.
The Transducer has plug to the Sounder black box, the sounder needs to get 12 volts + and -, and the sounder plugs into the GMS 10--so does the radar. the GMS 10 then plug into the back of your MFD (GPS Display).
Garmin uses several universal cables so there are always a lot of unused wires. Garmin is known for lousy manuals when it comes to wiring.
I just went thru this when I installed the Sounder, Radar, XM weather to my GPS Display.
BTW--if youdon't have garmin network cables go to a computer store and get regular ethernet cables--they work fine. Also don't worry about straight thru or reversed cabels--the Network Expander will mitigate that if there is issue.
I don't have the port expander on the 4210, it has 3 network ports built in to the back. So in this case I just hook up the power and tie up the other wires then? Since I have the IN HULL transducer, if I wanted a temp sensor at some point, would THAT use any of those wires? Thanks for quick reply btw. This forum rocks. Let me know if you have any computer ?'s that's what I do...

OK---you should be able to just use the ethernet or garmin network cables to plug the Sounder directly into the 42XX. Same with the Radar.
You'll have same level of confusion with the damned GPS antenna. I had to call Gamin to be sure which GPS antenna I had (there are 3 flavors of them) because the docs and labels and manuals didn't match at all.
I'm a little behind the times--3210 -- so I had to buy the expander.
I'll look at mine at lunch and make sure but I'm positive you only need the power wires from that 'ducer.
Hello,
This is my 1st post here.
In reference to the topic kind of... I just ordered the 4210/GSD22/NMEA 2000 intelliducer and gave to the guy to install on my new boat. I went to see how the install was going yesterday and the guy gave me back my GSD22. He said I didn't need it. Cool $400 saved...NOT...when I was fiddling with the 4210 I couldn't get the sonar picture to come up. I had the depth....we assumed it had to be in the water for the picture.
Figuring something was wrong I called Garmin today. Apparently the Intelliducer only does depth and temp hooked directly to the 4210 head unit...no picture. So I need to give the installer back the GSD22 and order a regular dual frequency transducer. Pain in the butt I tell ya...in all of my research Garmin does a poor job telling you what their intelliducer does and/or explaining how it all works. But I'm a newbie boat owner.

Stories like this are painful. Just call us next time!
Pogie, you plug the network cable on the GSD-22 straight into the back of your 4210, then use the gsd-22 power cable, and just connect the red and black to power, cut the rest back, then plug in the ducer. Don't overthink it, its super easy.

Jim,
I wish I had joined this forum earlier...I'll be keeping my boat on a lift at my Inlaws on Greenwood Creek in Grasonville. I live in Severna Park. You are too close to me. It gets put in the water Sunday morning.I'll call you next time.
