Default Hds 7

Hey Jim I'm looking at the HDS 7 and a freind of mine told me it will work with a lot of different transducers. Is this true? If so will it work with my Airmar P66. Thanks for your input. The biggest reason I ask is it doesn't look like the one with the transducer will be in till June and I wanted to do something before then as my GPS/plotter to a dump.

I can typically drop ship whatever model you need when you need it, the inventory on our site is just what we have, but most anything can be drop shipped. Airmar makes pretty much any ducer that gets discussed on this site. Most styles of Airmar ducers are available for Lowrance. That does not mean a certain ducer built for a Raymarine system will work on a Lowrance system. In fact, Lowrance models are specific to lowrance and can't be adapted to other brands of FF's. So you will likely need to replace your ducer.

You can probably get away with the internal antenna on your contender. For Sirius weather you need their LWX weather module, and for fuel you need an EP-60 with the associated NMEA2000 cabling. You can call me to put an order together.

Don,
As long as your not mounting it in a box the internal will work. I have an HDS10M mounted in an aluminum E-box and it will not pull a signal. I have an HDS10 mounted on the console and it pulls a signal fine. I had to hook the 2 up via NEMA2000 to get the signal to the upper unit.
If you are mounting on the console no problem, even if you plan to flush mount in the console you may need the LGC4000.

Thanks, I was going to flush mount it in the fiberglass dash. I have a fabric top. You still think I need the external anteanna?

On the website it says not reccommended for flush mounting. The canvas top is not an issue. Mine works under my hard top. You can always power it up in the console and see if it gets a signal. For my install everything works great but Im still going to get the LGC4000 to add for redundency.
You can never have to many back-ups. The system with 2 GPS receivers will pick the one with the best signal so cant go wrong. If you already have a NEMA2000 network you could probally get away with an LGC3000 or maybe even a 2000 depending on your network color.
