Purchased the 3210 bundle from you several years ago now, but did not purchase a transducer at the time. We have the original Furuno 582L unit, which works fine, but in the interest of updating, which current transducer would you recommend, based on our typical GOM fishing in generally 1000 feet or less with a Venture 34?

You can get up to a 1kW ducer with the GSD-22 you have. Your venture should have a place in the back ready to accept a B260 ducer. If so I would go with that. If there is not a molded-in place I would get the B164. Search our site for those #'s to find them, - B260 - B164

EDIT: NEVERMIND.... I just decided I want the HDS. Order placed. Please let me know when to expect it. Thanks....
So what is going to give me a better chart.... The Garmin 3210 with g2 or a HDS-8 Base with Navionics Platinum? Both units are about the same $, but the garmin has a bigger screen.
I particularly like the 3D view for running the ICW. Looks like I'd need to go to the 4000 series with garmin to get something similar to the HDS?
Thanks.... Was all set to get the HDS-8 until I saw this ;-)

difference from 4210?
Jim,
What is the difference between the 3210 and the 4210?
Also, I seem to recall some of the 3xxx series had some problems fogging up or something? Is that true, and if so has it been fixed?
Thanks,
Andy

The 3000 series can definitely fog although it was not common. The 4000 series has a bonded glass screen so fogging is not possible. These 2 series have completely different user interfaces. Some like the 3000 series better, most like the 4000 series better. The 4000 series also has a brighter screen, and can use vision charts.

3210 vs 4008/4010
Jim,
Pete from Alaska again. I just ordered the 3210 as we discussed this afternoon. THEN I read to the bottom of this thread. Please compare and contrast the 3000 series unit with the 4000 series 4008 or 4010 so I know if I need to upgrade. How significant is the brighter display between the 3000 and 4000 series?
They both accept the Bluechart g2 cards, is the difference the Bluechart g2 Vision capability? I had not planned to use the Vision charts, especially the 3D views, is that the biggest difference?
Thanks!
Pete Heyroth

Are these bundles still available?
Also, what is the dash space required for one of these units?

Do you anticipate being able to offer a bundle with the Garmin 4210 or 4010 in the near future?
Thanks

The 3000 series is plug and play like the 4000 series. garmin does not offer a 4210 bundle. As a garmin dealer we only sell Garmin part numbers. There are some places out there that pick parts from other boxes to make up a package similar to a Garmin Bundle. But you will not find any legit Garmin dealers doing this.

Jim,
I bought a 4208 unit from you today, and now I'm wondering if maybe I should have bought the 3210 bundle for essentially the same price (after rebate).
What do you think? I fish off Cape Cod, usually less than 200', and I'd like to add radar down the road. I don't really care about the 3D charts.
Any known issues with the 3210? What about charts, are they different?
It sounds like the 3210 bundle is more (and bigger) bang for the buck for my needs.

Its really a toss up. Smaller screen with new technology or bigger screen with old technology. I can't answer this one for you.

Thanks Jim
I think I'll stick with my original purchase... space might be tight in my console and I'd prefer the new technology.
Thanks for the great price - I vowed here this past winter that when I had enough cash for the 4208 that I'd buy it from you. Your customer service and general help here on THT sold me.
Thank you again.... now I gotta start saving for the Furuno 620!

If I order an electronics package from you do you know of a reputable place near New Orleans to have it installed?
Thanks
