Jim - I have the Garmin 3210 with the GDL30A for XM Weather.

I am preparing for a trip from Alabama to Maine and want to make sure I'm squared away with my electronics. My captain is a little concerned that I should be upgrading to the most current Garmin or Furuno unit out ... seems to me the 3210 is fairly current and capable and with some fresh data cards should make the trip without a problem.

My other unit is a Raymarine E120 with open array. I'll need to get a full updated map set for the route for that unit also. Any suggestion regarding which maps I should get?

I have a separate Furuno depth sounder. (RD30)

The charts G2 charts I will need for the 3210 are approx $1000 for the trip. If I purchase a new 6212 Garmin (when they are shipping) do they already come with the charts or do I still need to purchase those separately?

Is there any benefit to the GXM51 XM weather that the 6212 uses over the GDL30A that my 3210 uses?

Thanks.

Mike

The GXM and GDL30 do the exact same thing. The 6212 will have all the charts you need. I really see no need to update all off the charts on your already pre-loaded 3210. You're just going down the coast. Whats in there should be fine especially if you buy a new card for your Raymarine system. The new Navionics Gold Chart for Raymarine covers the entire USA. So this will be a very economical way to get current chart coverage. It is just $171!

We were actually out, there was a sync glitch and I was not able to see many of the orders that came in via the internet. But i know where a few were left, bought one for about $200 more than you paid, and you'll get it for what you paid.

Are these ever offered as reman's?

If not, what's today's equivalent for a similar deal on a Garmin bundle?

The 4212 looks like an amazing package but it's probably $1000 or more than a reman'd 3210 bundle.
