Default Lowrance 6500c-Simrad AP12

Someone PLEASE I need help. Trying to hook the two together. The AP12 is for rotary steer. On the back of the unit it alows for two wires from the gps to hook up. My gps cable (NMEA 0183) has four wires. From what I read the blue is not used. I would imagine the bare wire is the ground. That leaves just the orange (recieve) and yellow (transmit) left. I think I want the yellow (Trasmit) to the back of the AP but not sure. That would make two wires not used (blue and orange). Thanks for any help you can offer.

Stan.

Lowrance shield (bare wire) is ground, yellow is transmit and orange is receive.

AP12R red wire is data, blue is common.

Connect Lowrance yellow to AP12 red and Lowrance ground to AP12 blue.

AP 12 don't have a NMEA-183 output so the rest of the Lowrance wires will be unused. Isolate all loose ends to avoid shorts.

Thanks abbor. Would you happen to know how to tie in the furuno 585 to all this. 585 has 7 wires.

Green says RD-B
Yellow says RD-A
White says TD-A
Blue says TD-B
Black ?
Orange ?
Brown ?

Default Simrad AP12R & AP14R autopilot question

Hey SRD or anybody who has a Simrad AP12R or AP14R rotary drive autopilot did that tighten up your steering any more then the regular helm and cause it to not work as smooth?
I just installed a factory reconditioned unit and the steering is awfully stiff and is rough.
I have a brand new Morse 304411 cable which is recommended.
I removed the cable from the SRD12 drive unit and it does turn easier but still is not very smooth, but then I don't know that might just be the way they all are.

I can't tell you about the steering as I bought my boat used and it came with the auto pilot. I did how ever wire everything together as instructed above and it didn't work. When I push the nav button on the ap it beeps twice meaning it's not getting any data. Do you or anybody have any ideas on this.
