Garmin 3210 sounder question

Will I need the Garmin GSD22 to get the fishfinder mode on a 3210? Or will i be able to just plug the transducer into the back of the unit? I am trying to decide between the Garmin 3210 and the Northstar m84 (which allows me to plug the transducer directly into the unit).

You need the GSD-22 to make the 3210 a FF. The GSD-22 is a superior FF to the M84, plus the screen is bigger on the 3210. I think its an easy choice.

You will also need to buy a chart for the M84 where with the 3210 charts are pre-loaded.
