Default New chart plotter

I am getting ready to pull the trigger and get new electronics. I see that your sale is coming up and figure this would be a great time to do it.

I am pretty much sold on getting the Furuno 585 w/ 1 kw sounder. The way my electronics area is set, 2 medium sized units will work better than 1 larger unit (ie E series or 10" navnet).

So I figure go with the 585 for the fish finder and then get a good quality chartplotter. This is where i am stuck. I was pretty much sold on the Raymarine A65, but now with the issues of the WAAS, I dont know if I like it so much or if it is as good a deal as before. If I understand correctly, the A65 comes with the 12 series GPS, but that no longer accepts WAAS signal. So I would have to upgrade to the 125. Is Raymarine doing any deal where I could get the 125 and only pay the difference in cost between the 12 and 125. Kinda stupid to buy 1 as part of the package and then have to buy another one immediately.

Or is there something about the same size and price of the A65 that I should be considering? of all the bad things said about it, I havent found anything with that size screen for that price.

I know if I combined the FF/plotter then i could spend the total for a garmin or something similar, but I want 2 seperate units.

Any way, You are the professional, so maybe i am missing something here.

Any suggestions would help.

Thanks

Default Re: New chart plotter

The A65 is right at the bottom of my long list for chartplotters. While it is a good combo unit with a strong FF, it is not a very nice chartplotter (for the money). I would look into a Standard Horizon CP300, or a Garmin 3206.
