Default VHF antenna and radio

Het guys I am looking to add a ''black box'' VHF radio in my small 17 CC Scout.
Maybe Standard Horizon Phantom PS1000 ? - I fish the gret lakes usally no more then a mile or two from shore.
Worst case I'd be 30 miles from where I should be, but never more than a few miles from other boats.

Could you suggest a radio anntena combo or a website to get more info.

Thanks

BTW I love the Lowerance GlobalMap I got from you last summer!!!

The PS1000 and PS2000 are very nice radios. Basically the only thing available liek that, so if you want a BB radio I have no further advice. I would get the PS1000 and a 4' Digital 528. We don't have the PS1000's on the website but they cost $95, the VHF is $72. http://www.byownerelectronics.com/st...r=thehulltruth

Jim your the Bomb!!! The combo looks great - I could also use a Nema connector to go from the VHF to the Lowrance Globalmap 3600i not sure what connections are required other than NMEA0183. Proabably in the 4 foot range - Heading the FLA with the kids this week - Price out the nema cable and I'll order them up the first week of March.

The power cable on your Lowrance unit should have the bare wires ready for nmea 0183.

Jim, just got back - can I use standard twopair (4 strand) wire for the NEMA 0183 connection? with only one connection VHF to GPS do I need a punchdown bus?

You need instrument wire, 20 gauge or higher. 4 strand is fine for 2 way nmea or just 2 strand for 1 way nmea.
