Default Garmin Bundle with new Radar

I'm getting ready to replace my present electronics (Garmin 2210C, Furuno 582L & JRC Radar) on my boat. What I think I want is the 3210C bundle (I already have XM radio on the boat) with the new Garmin 6' open array radar and use the garmin depth sounder. I never did learn how to properly use the Furuno unit and I have always liked how the Garmin units are so user friendly. I want to use 2 displays and I guess I'll have to get used to needing two 3210's to accomplish this. At least i'll have a back-up GPS.
I'm basically ready to order everything but thought I would seek any more information or thoughts on this configuration. Any input would be highly appreciated.

If you actually use the fishfinder for fishing, then I think you would be making a mistake getting rid of the Furuno. I have the Garmin fishfinder as a back up. Which may not be a bad idea to do for yourself. Easy enough to just get a puck on the inside of the bilge without having to put in another thru hull. Just my opinion

John .....

have you considered a 3206 or 3205 as your 2nd display or if you really want to get crazy is replace your 2nd display the new Furuno 620 Digital FF. Glen E can give you straight info on the Garmin FF options & radar units. I have a Garmin 2206 and Furuno 620 FF installed on the Whaler and have been impressed with both. The 620 FF is awesomebecauseof its functionality, ease of use, and display capabilities. In addition, you should consider adding the XM Weatherfeature toyour Garmin Network. The XM Weather functionality is worth its weight in gold. I back up my Garmin2206 with a Garmin 376c with the XM Weather capability.

It's easy tointerface the Furunowith the Garmin 3210 via NMEA connection so you can maximize dataexchange info between the units. Here's my install.

ocdboats.......Thanks, but after 2 Furuno FF's I'm convinced that I don't want to continue with it. It's a shame because I just installed it at the beginning of the season. It'll go the ebay route soon.
bluewaterpirate....Nice set-up. I have more room and can mount 2 3210's side by side in the overhead box. My intent is to have the xm weather overlay as I already have the xm radio in the salon. I'm having my 60th birthday next week and this is my present to myself. I really like the size and ease of use for the Garmin 2210c that I presently use. My eyes aren't what they used to be and large is better for me. My thinking is that the 2 screens will give me better use with less time switching back and forth. I also intend on adding some camera's for the engine room and cockpit but that may be next spring.

Who is Glenn E and how do I contact him. I'd really like to talk to someone and see if my thinking is sound.

I have the Furuno RD-30, that came w/the boat I bought. It's a little digital unit, that can give you tons of info. It will interface w/a gps thru nmea, & can be used as a backup gps. It's not a big screen, in matter of fact it's really small, but accurate to a tee on depth, speed, temp etc... I love it....I'm looking to buy a 2660 Sailfish, & i'm going w/the 3210c rader bundle, & I was going to back it up w/the RD-30. Great choice on the Garmin, I have the 198c on my present 23' cc. Real easy to work with, & has built in charts for everywhere. By the way happy b-day, I just hit 46.

hookmdano,
Thanks for the suggestion. I did forget to mention that I have a Raymarine st40 or st60 depth, I'm not sure which mounted on the console. I use this as a secondary depth guage, I believe that the temp comes from the other transducer. I don't understand how this might be fed to the GPS.

NMEA connections as hookm mentioned in his post. Just have to figure out the right wires of the Furuno or Ray product to/from the Garmin. The 3210 is straight forward with its color coding of NMEA wires. That's how I get temp/depth/ and FF waypoints into my Garmindisplay from the Furuno 620 and get position info from the Garmin to the Furuno. Easy to wire.

Jon it's actually a simple process once you get the hard install complete. Just have to figure out what color wires get connected. I've walked a number of folks thru the process ....here's an example:

OK here’s the connection:

S1000 Orange to 2010c Blue

S1000 Green to 2010cBrown
Important Note:

Your then going to have connect the S1000 Brown & Blue together and connect those wires to a common ground source.
