Default Protection of Brand New GPS Unit from Wear and Tear

All,

I have just received my brand new GPS (Garmin 292) - and want some hints on how best to protect the unit form general wear and tear - especially protecting the screen from scratches, etc..

And, are there better external antennas out there that perform better that the ones supplied with the GPS units?
If so, what is the best type, etc..??

Regards

The questions that you are asking (screen protection, VHF choice, etc.) have been discussed many times.

Learn to use the Search Feature (on the blue tool bar at the top left). If you can't find an answer to your inquiry, then post a question

Good luck

Get a screen protector for the screen but just don't get a PurpleMoo - they are too reflective.

If the unit has an internal antenna then it will work fine. Same goes if it came with an external antenna. All it has to do is pick up satellites and it should have no problem doing so because it's a Garmin.

Good luck with the new unit!

When my C120 is not being used on the boat, it is kept in a foam lined hard shell case. I did not apply a screen protector but should. For the time being keep your fingers off my screen. Easy to do with people who also own and respect $$$$ gear.
