Default Navnet2 and C-map PC planner

Well, through the use of a generic SD card I have been able to successfully upload all of my waypoints to the Navnet2. However, the software does not allow a simultaneous uploading of Marks to the SD card along with the Waypoints. You can select both Marks and Waypoints when saving to the card but both won't work. This is a bit annoying since C-map offers many Marks on its support website via .xml format and it would be nice to upload them along with your user waypoints.

I will try next to upload the Marks separately on another SD card from the software and then transfer them to the Furuno. I am not 100% sure if this will also erase my already uploaded Waypoints. The PC planner instructions appear to imply that Furuno keeps all of the waypoints, marks, etc. in the same file on its internal software. By uploading waypoints you erase that file and replace it with the info on your SD card. Uploading Marks may also erase the file (if it is the same as the wayoints file) and replace it with the Marks on the SD card. I will have to experiment a bit to figure this out since the software and instructions are not user friendly as far as Furuno is concerned. If you have another type plotter it isn't so bad. Those of us with Furuno's are probably used to bad instructions.

I had the same issues when I tried to convert my old routes to my new Navnet2. I did all the work and then found out I'd created each point as a mark, not a waypoint. On the brighter note, I've learned how to manipulate the files pretty well.

If you want to upload both, you could try changing the marks to waypoints and then upload them. Just export the file to csv make the changes and reimport it. The utility for this is included with PC Planner (xml-csv or something like that).

Hmmm, that is not a bad idea. The only reason I would want the Marks as waypoints is to add them into a route. I have discovered that some of the Marks are a bit off and some are not really needed if you have the right chart card.
Converting each Mark as needed isn't a bad idea and using the utility program is even better.

I really think the key is using a generic card. Many people seem to have trouble uploading when using the C-map SD chart card.

Well, my software will not let me upload more than 20 waypoints at a time. I was originally limited to only 13 but figured out that if I changed my waypoint icons to single fish I could load 20. If I tried to use anything else I would get several error marks and only 13. I have an e-mail in to C-map support. I have to say this software is full of bugs when Furuno is concerned.

Success, I was able tonight to upload all 72 waypoints entered. I had loaded something over half of the numbers onto PC planner early on when purchased. Later I entered about 13 more. I was always able to upload the second group of 13. I played with my icons a bit and filled in all data fields and got a total of 20 loaded onto the card. Tonight I decided to try and enter some more. Well the 20 I had loaded earlier plus another 15 entered tonight loaded easily onto the card. I then decided to delete my previously entered points that weren't loading onto the card and re-enter them as if new. Voila all 72 waypoints easily loaded onto the card. I wonder if the issue was an update to the program between waypoint loadings OR I may not have been in Navnet2 emulation mode while loading the first set of waypoints. In either case I have determined that all data fields must be filled in for PCplanner to work, name, description, date, and coord. If you forget a description you will get an error on the uploaded info.

The only way to confirm the info was loaded for Navnet is to re-load your card onto PC planner. Then pull up the user points screen and you should have 2 sets of identical points listed.

I still haven't figured out why the software won't accept anything other than the same symbol for all waypoints or nothing (I am using the single Furuno fish icon) but I can deal with 72 Furuno fish on my plotter screen for now. I will just change them on the plotter unit itself.

You might want to try GPSU... www.gpsu.co.uk It is very simple, yet powerful shareware. It can do almost anything with a waypoint, but marks are slightly limited.
