Lowrance X98DF Sounder Problems & Problems & Problems

Back in 2003 I bought a new Lowrance X98 DF depth sounder. I have had it returned about twice a year for numerous problems ranging from water in the display to a bad transducer. Lowrance was good in fixing the problems till the most recent one.

I called and they said the product was no longer under warrantee (now mind you have swapped units over 6 times since 2003.

So I asked if they would work a deal on a new depth sounder and I would pay the cost difference and that I was fed up with this one. The next time I pull it out its going in the trash.

I was told that they don't do that and i would now have to pay for all the repairs. Anyone else had this problem?

I thought these guys made good sounders, was the X98 a flop?

They warranty them to last the length of the warranty. Sounds like you got an extension or two. Shows they are not unreasonable.

I don't know, but doubt the 98 was a flop.

I'd pay the repair cost and request they return a different X98 sounder if they have a reconditioned one available. If not available I'd ask mine be repaired and returned and use it while researching and shopping for a replacement which I'd buy as soon as the X98 fails again, if ever.
