Default Ray C80 water temp readings

Has anyone experienced problems with their C80 (or other C-) giving the wrong water temp reading? Since last NOV mine has been showing about 20-25 degrees colder that what the water actually is. For example last week in St. Pete is was showing water temp as 52 degrees.

Is this a software problem (I haven’t installed the latest firmware yet), a C80 problem, or a transducer problem (I’m using an Airmar B45)? In NOV it was working fine (or so I thought), but it hasn’t recovered in the numerous times I’ve been out since then. It still changes as the water gets warmer or colder, but it’s waaaaaaay off.

Any fixes or thoughts? Thanks.

It can be adjusted in the setup menu for an offset, but you're right, that's way off. Could it be possible that somebody messed with it and didn't realize what they did or is playing a joke? If it fluctuates correctly but is just off by 20 degrees odds are it could just need adjustment. That's where I would start.

That's pretty much what I figured too; I just don't know how to make the "adjustment". Heck, after trying this morning, I can't even pull the transducer out of the thru-hull mount. I know I've done it before with no problem at all, but now it wont' even come out. Am I missing something obvious?

Yikes! don't remove the ducer! The adjustment is made through the setup menu - very simple. I'll try to get the exact sequence to get you there but do NOT remove the ducer, they are epoxy sealed with no adjustments.

Got it: won't remove the transducer. I know I can make adjustments to the temp (offset) on the C80, but it's only +/- 4 degrees, so I don't think that's the solution.

For S&Gs check that it's reading in Fahrenheit and not Celsius. If in C it should be reading 20 or 25 degrees not be 20 or 25 degrees colder, but its worth checking. Last suggestion, call Raymarine Tech Support and then Airmar Tech Support before ripping the ducer or the C80 out.

Its reading Fahrenheit not Celsius. I'll give Raymarine and Airmar a call. Thanks for your help and suggestions.
