Default Garmin weather

I just had my service turned on for the first time. I have seen satelite images of areas where I know that the sea surface temp's are in the 70's. The XM says they are in the 50's. These are both sea surface temp and both by Satelite. Why is XM so far off? I bought the XM mainly for the temps. Am I doing something wrong or did I waste my money on this?

I would think that sea surface temperature means exactly that. If one satelite can pick up a warm eddy that has 73 degree water that has been there for over 2 weeks and it is large, then why can't the satelite that Garmin uses pick it up. I bought this so I didn't have to join a satelite service and thought that it would give me a more accurate reading since I would always have it with me offshore.

As far as settings, I don't know of any that I have missed. It clearly states that the water sea surface temp is 51 degrees but I know that it is 73 degrees. This is quite a big difference.
