Default Raymarine 10KW Radar Troubles Need Help

Hello All! New to the forum! Not a spammer but hope someone out there can answer my question.

Just updated my 4kw open array to a 10kw. Dealer installed a 12v to 24v VTC invertrer and replaced the pedestal unit with the 10KW. The head unit is a C120. Currently the head unit is not receiving any data. The pedestal goes thru its usuall warm up mode but marks nada.

Dealer says its a software issue. Received new software from Raymarine (supposedly nothing on it). I'm not sure these guys know whats up! You can buy the C120 w/ a 10KW so why is it a software issue? The dealer keeps telling me the C ans E series are a pain in the a## . Both units have been flawless for 2 years until this.

Any good ideas or helpful hints would be appreciated!

Looks like the diagnosis is in. Bad pedestal. Would have thought that they would have tested it before shipping.

Hopefully Ray will step up and replace it

I would have disagreed with you the other day but now I'm not sure! Updated the software, checked the voltage, continuity checked out so we replaced the pedestal. Still no Data. Tried my other C120. Same thing. Ordered a core unit "the last option". Received "new" core unit the other day and went to install it. Tech says it is an old desgn. Not cool! Different connections. Still doesn't work. Dealer is now mocking up a system in the shop! They have installed 10s of 100s of radars and I get the special one!

Furuno has had roughly 2 software updates in 6 years, I think Ray had about 6 updates last year alone, to allow serious design changes (DSM-250/300, E-series, Bread crumb, GPS sensor etc...) to interoperate with one another. They have more combinations out there than Micro$haft, and we all know how well that crap operates.

I have 2 C120's and the 10kW Ray installed on my boat. Over the winter, my dealer trailered my boat to his location for service and when the boat was returned, the radar did not show the data just like yours.

It was very odd, because the dealer was performing service work unrelated to the radar and the boat's electronics. After numerous tests of voltage, wiring, C120's, continuity, etc. We found out that the dealer had removed my array from the pedestal because they were concerend about clearance while on the trailer. In the process, they damaged the little electrode that extends from the pedestal up through the array.

Is it possible that when you put the array on your new pedestal, you bumped and damaged the electrode? If so, everything will operate as normal but you will not get any data on your display.

Good luck.

Nick

Thanks for the tip but no luck! Raymarine has 10KW open arrays on B/O! Oh what a joy. Another Tuna trip missed. Thank God for OPB. Pretty close to switching. Especially after waiting on the help line for 20 minutes and had to leave a message after all that!!
