Default Side scan on a catamaran

Considering new electronics, likely Raymarine. In the process, I'm trying to decide if side scan would be functional and how to make it useful. The sole purpose is for following schools of 20-30# albacore as they try to sneak away, in several thousand foot depths. We troll until we get a strike or see jumpers, then convert to live bait. Generally, we lose the school, so it'd be nice to look both ways some and see if we see them.

This will be on a catamaran.

thanks.

I have it (Simrad) on mine. It works fine, but one side is better than the other.

I have one as well. I have a lowrance system and agree with the post above. Most of my side scanning is done at low speeds so I just tilt the motors up a tad and then it shows much better.

side scan will not work in several thousand foot depths. I haven't used mine yet but from what I understand it is about a 200ft max.
