Default Lowrance Software Update Available

New Software Available for HDS Gen3, Gen2 Touch

Lowrance® has released HDS Gen3 RTM 3.5 (version 54.1.85) and HDS Gen2 Touch RTM 5.5 (version 54.2.18) software updates that enable support for the TotalScan™ transducer (Gen3 only), Precision-9 Solid State Compass, and include new features like SiriusXM® Local Weather, Network Analyzer and an upgrade to the Service Assistant.

Features and Benefits

TotalScan transducer
With this update, HDS Gen3 units can now utilize the all-new TotalScan Skimmer transducer for Broadband Sounder™ and CHIRP sonar, plus StructureScan® HD SideScan and DownScan Imaging™ ─ all from a single transducer.

Precision-9 Compass
The Precision-9 Compass incorporates a sophisticated solid-state sensor array measuring motion on nine separate axes. Data from all nine axes is used to calculate the most accurate heading and rate-of-turn information possible, avoiding common limitations of conventional fluxgate electronic compasses.

SiriusXM Local Weather
Lowrance customers with the WM-3 SiriusXM weather module can now get local weather and forecasts at the push of a button. The update also enables current weather, 3- and 6-hour look ahead, 6-day forecasts and the capability to get instant weather conditions by placing the cursor on a map location.

Network Analyzer and Service Assistant
The Network Analyzer simplifies system-wide software updates by interrogating the network and detecting if there is out-of-date software.

The Service Assistant creates a report of network devices, including software version and serial numbers, to send to Navico® Service to help resolve software/technical issues. In the previous version of software, the report was sent to an installed SD card for later distribution via email. After this upgrade, the service report can be sent directly to Navico service, when the HDS unit is connected to the internet.

Jim, for that local weather do you need the addition sirius weather subscription?
What if I have the LWX1? Is it worth doing the update?

Yes. It performs better than the RC42. Worth it

No, it's not worth upgrading from RC42. Precision-9 will probably make the autopilot perform slightly better, but I'm not sure you will notice.

I just have a music one now. Had the weather but did not use it much as I didn't get offshore as much as I thought I would. It is very expensive.

RC42 proven reliable and still sold after 12 years.
New Simrad probably good replacement if yours is giving problems but I don't see a need to fix what isn't broke.
