Default transducer location Key West 219fs

I am mounting another transducer for a 2nd plotter/sounder on a Key West 219fs. I'm not happy with the performance where the one is located now.

The Key West has a transom extension that moves the motor back off the transom proper about 8-9". With that factored in, the trailing edge of the transducer would be about 18" forward of the leading edge of the prop.

Can I mount the transducer under the transom extension near the drain hole and be in clear water and get good performance?

on the Key west boat forum there is a boat with the same problem. The step hull of the fs hull causes trouble I had to move the transducer further to the side.It is worth a lok at the other forums.

I have the same boat with the same problem. I can't find the answer on the keywestboatsforum...

Any guidance on this for moving the ducer?

I am aware now (wished dealer would've told me) that a thru hull is better. I don't have the funds for that yet.

I have a pocket on my KW 216 BR that I recently moved the transducer to. Performance is way better in that pocket. Able to read depth at speed and sidescan images are clearer.

Do you have the stepped hull where a notch is cut out further forward about 1/4 towards the bow?

no stepped hull, but you can barely see a strake way up towards the front of the boat that was interfering with ducer reading at the previous location.
