Default What gps can delete specific tracks?

I'm am going to update my electronics on my flats skiff. I'm wondering if there is a unit out there where you can select a specific track to keep or delete. On my current garmin I can either keep them all or delete them all.

If I put a track on that I don't want to repeat I'd like to delete it without erasing my good tracks. Does such a feature exist on any of the newer units? Brand doesn't matter.

You "should" be able to delete a specific track on any unit. Tracks are usually listed and can be selected to show or not and to delete. Search the menu options....

I believe you can select the start time you want the active tracked saved. I am talking Garmin here.

I can't speak for all of them but I KNOW you can do the following on the Lowrance HDS touch gen 2 and the simrad evo2:

Keep a track and not show it on the screen
Keep and track and show it
Delete a track

I'm sure this is standard on any of them though.

How old is your Garmin? Which unit? Have you updated the software?

If you are asking me I have a Garmin 7612xsv and a Garmin 8212. Both are up to date on latest software. I just have not had all the issues with updates many have had with Garmin.

Mine is a 541s. Version 4.5 software.

What I'm trying to do is move the curser to a track, select it and delete it. There is no option to delete it. If I go to saved tracks that page is empty even though there are lots of tracks?

I want to update to a touch screen unit so I can zoom in/out more quickly and also select and delete a track easily (without having to flip through a bunch of menus). First world problems I know...

I'm thinking you don't routinely (have yet to?) select "Clear the active track" ?

so what you are seeing is just THE "active track" - now comprised of multiple days/trips

at this point,
I believe if you navigate to "save active track" you will see a list of the dates included in it -
but I'm uncertain how you would know, which date, is the portion of the track you want....

I never tried doing that, I "clear the active track" after each trip;

but of course IF I happen to want to save that particular track,

I "save active track" first, before I clear it.

Ah! Yep. That's what it is.

I just got this skiff (it's an 07) with the 541s already on it so I didn't realize I was just running one continuous track. Thanks for the tip.
