Does anybody have any feedback on the new Northstar 8000i? Or when it will be released to the public?

I think it will be at the Miami show.

They do look slick. My concern would be that the touch screens may not be the best configuration on a boat where a thorough hand washing and drying may not be terribly convenient everytime the operator touches sunscreen, food, bait, any slightly salty surface, etc. . It's hard enough to keep the regular screens unsmudged without damaging the coatings. They may be targeted (& priced) for the larger yacht niche.

I'll look at the N.Eng. Boatshow on Wed., but I'd be surprised if they were readily available anytime soon.

If I just did not sink my life's saving into a garmin network, this is what I would own - very,very slick - makes everyone else's unit look like toys..this is the professional unit, IMO...

Ya, I went down to Miami to check it out. Its infrared touch screen so your hand only has to get close to it or there is a wireless remote, but my big concern is if its real waterproof. We'll wait and see it'll be out in June.
