Northstar 6000i/6100i

Looking for some general feedback on the 6000i. The 6100i appears to be an updated unit that will use Navionics Platinum charts. May be able to get a deal on Northstar products in conjunction with a new boat purchase.

How is the radar when used with this unit?

I have not heard a lot of great things about their black box fishfinder. Can anyone chime in or compare to Furuno or Raymarine?

I'd like to get the 6000i with radar and a new Furuno standalone fishfinder, but there might not be room for both.

I JUST SET UP MY NEW CONTENDER- 6000I- 8 INCH SCREEN FOR PLOTTER- GREAT UNIT- BLOWS AWAY THE 952 WHICH I LOVED- THE ONLY PROBLEM WAS THE SCREEN FOGS UP WHEN THE UNIT GETS HOT- IT IS BACK AT NORTHSTAR GETTING RESEALED WHICH I AM NOT HAPPY ABOUT- IF IT IS NOT PERFECT I WILL DEMAND A NEW UNIT AND DISPUTE THE CHARGES ON CREDIT CARD- FOR PURCHASES LIKE THIS IT PAYS TO USE A CREDIT CARD- FOR THE SOUNDER I BOUGHT THE NAVNET 10 INCH- NICE BOTTOM READ- NOT THE BEST IN SHALLOW WATER- RADAR ON THE NAVNET IS REALLY NICE SO FAR- HAVE NOT USED AS MUCH AS I SHOULD- I DID NOT HOOK UP AN WAAS ANTENAE TO THE NAVNET YET BUT I HEARD THE PLOTTER IS OK

Northstar plottters are top notch, and now that they will offer platinum charts, theyre even better. Personally, I wouldnt use the Northstar for anything but the plotter.
