It gives you the possibility to fine-tune your RPM in 50 rpm steps, but only from 700 - 1200 rpm.
This makes it only useful for people who troll with live bait using downriggers and in very calm water.
Chris
Do you have the SMIS gauge or C-10? All I have is the troll mode tach.

Looking at the troll mode diagram, all I see is 2" gauge and 4" gauge. I'm not sure if that's referring to the SMIS.

I have SMIS gauges,
Yes the 2'' and 4'' gauges are the Suzuki/Lowrance SMIS gauges, a small and a biger size round gauge.
I tried the troll switch today and he was not working, i probably have to read the manual to see if there is something special to do to activate the switch/troll mode.

The motors have to be at operating temperature, put in forward idle detent, then hold troll mode button down for 3 seconds. This puts it into troll mode, now you can hit the button up and down for control.

Will you confirm that I do need a SMIS gauge instead of just the analog troll mode gauge? I'm unable to locate this information and the diagram doesn't explicitly state which gauge I need.

you can use the troll mode tach, that is the purpose of it. The smis or c10 is not needed for non fly by wire motors.

Thank you for the confirmation, I really appreciate your help. I figured since I have a specific troll mode tach I should be good to go. They mentioned that were going to try a new harness, but I thought the engine interface harness is all the same.

I'll try and figure out why they weren't able to get it working. From the diagram, it looks like it's only three wires for the switch, blue, violet and green.

It's currently not working, is this setup even possible? I just bought a 16' DF175
I just saw you have a 175, if it is not fly by wire(G model) troll mode is not compatible.

I have a DF175TXW. That's unfortunate, I was told that the troll control would work if I purchased that add on. No wonder they couldn't get it to work.

Which models does the switch work for? I'll see if I can return or sell it.

Default Troll mode only working on one motor in Twins?

I have twin Suzuki 300's with troll mode installed and it only appears to work on the starboard motor. Should it work with whichever motor is running?

Correct, it should work on both motors as long as they are running.
Make sure both motors are at operating temperature, put both motors in forward gear at idle detent, hold troll mode button down for 3 sec. to put into troll mode(you'll get a beep and visual confirmation on gauge) then you can use troll switch up and down.

Can troll mode achieve RPM less than the preset idle RPM in order to troll slower than idle?

Love the Troll Mode . Mounted it on the dash panel below the C-10 since i had to remake the panel anyway. doesn't take up much room. 2017 DF300, easy install .

Nope, preset idle to about 1200 rpm is the range. Still, pretty nice feature

This isn't completely true, I use mine to troll in the Chesapeake Bay which isn't always the calmest water and we pull big lures 3 to 4 knots. One nice feature of the troll mode is that if you need to speed up beyond the preset upper limit, just push the throttle up, then you only need to pull the throttle back to the idle extent position and it will resume at the rpm you had set.
