Default eagle FF

I'm wondering if anyone has heard anything positive or negitive on the color line from eaglesonar in paticular the Sea Finder 500C unit ,I have the 320df mono and very pleased with it but I want a color unit. I have not had a fogging problem or any other problems to mention the only thing I changed was to switch from shoot thru to transom mount and I tell ya it was a big change lot's more definition of objects but I lost some when I was going fast compared to the shoot thru going fast it kept locked on bottom at all depths as far as trolling speed my transom mount change inproved .
My hope was to get the Ray ds600x but I'm open to any thoughts
thanks, BF

The RAY units are good fish finders. Problem right now is that they have a screen fogging issue particularly in the colder climates. Seeing as your from up here, it might be wise to see what happens. Ray is replacing current screens under warranty, no question. Not sure if it is a screen with a better design, or the same OEM screen with better sealing/venting. Three guys I know presently have their units back to the factory.

The Eagle is the entry level part of Lowrance's line. Some owners have Eagle/Lowrance and never seem to have a problem. They are not the same company as 5-10 years ago-they have gotten worse with reliability issues. A good unit when they work, but ....do a search and you will get a feel for the issues.

Same for Si-tex- Company has sat on their laurels and now producing questionable units accomapnied by poor customer service. 2 Friends had horror stories to relate this past summer.

You have SIMRAD, but they can be pricey. The FURUNO 600L is solid performer and if your wallet can stand it. the 582L is the benchmark unit in recreational fish finders.

You might look at the Standard Horizon units. I've seen/ worked their plotters (175 and 1000) and I liked them a lot. Can't say anything about the fishfinders- never worked one. If you search, there are a number of onwers that are pretty happy with them. I think there is a supply of Remanufactured units available that have a great price with full factory warranty.

Hope this helps a bit!
