I read a post and somebody had installed a line of sight post for the radar antenna, I really did not believe I could see bouys with my radar, but aftre getting the line of sight radar antenna stand, I could see the bouys, it is one ulgy stand, but it works really good, I just got back from and overnight er offshore and on the way out I had it set all the way tilted down, and I was picking up the swells i was heading into, I adjusted last night while on anchor, and heading back today, while still grey light, I was able to pick up the bouys and alot of stuff that with out it I would not have seen, I had made a wedge, but did not work well at all ! SO thanks to the guy who posted about it, the other stands are really pricy, this one was not to bad !

I don't know if it was me that mentioned it about 2 weeks ago, but I installed one at the beginning of this season.
I would definitely suggest that once you get it "fine tune" adjusted, that you drill small holes through both side plates and install 2 small SS self tapping screws or machine screws to lock it all up. I have had the nylon locking washers 'slide' down under the weight of the radome in some nasty seas and had to reset it. Not a difficult job, but why bother?
I got the recommendation to get the ProMount LOS from John at TIGHTLINE RODS. He has it for a LOT less that the one in the link. It also will adjust from 0-10 degrees where the more expensive Scan Struts can only be adjust using wedges that may be too little or too much depending on the application. It is not as pretty looking, but hull damage from a collision is not pretty either.
I looked into that Patrick remote adjusting radar mount. You could buy a complete secondary radar system and have 2 mounted at different angles for that cost! I imagine you would then have to fiddle with adjusting it when you should be keeping your eye on the radar and the water. JMHO.
I think that is a good idea with the self tapping screws as I can see the mount slipping, and it was you who gave me the idea, I had made some wedges a few weeks ago, and they really did not work to well and the other options were to pricy, thanks ! I paid about $140.00 locale around here on the west coast !
Between this line of sight and my Ez Anchor puller, my boat looks different, but hell they work really good and that is what I was after !
