Default 2006 vs 3006

Does anyone know if Garmin changed the screen when they introduced the 3006? Did they make it brighter and easier to read in the daylight or is the screen a carry-over from the 2006? For a guy who doesn't need radar, the 2006 is appealing if the screens are the same since there are better deals on the leftover 2006's. Anything else different between the units that will matter on a bay boat??

Thanks in advance!

Jay

For a bayboat I would go with the 2006c. The 3006c accepts satellite radar, regular radar, and video.

Swamp, That part I understand, but I would spend the extra if the screen is brighter....... the eyes aren't as good as they once were. Any input on the screens? Thanks Jay

3010 is a TFT screen. The 2010 is LCD.
The 3010 is very bright, I bought it because my eyes arn't what they used to be, either.

You may not need radar but the XM weather on the 3006 and the 3010 is a very useful option

Big T - antiglare coating is coming off my Lowrance and no replacement screen available is why I'm looking for a new machine....

5-C's - would really like the larger 3010 screen but height is about 1/2 " too tall to fit my console

Roto - I do like the XM weather.... are you using one? Do you like it? Worth the monthly $$? May have to consider the 3006... Why does it always seem to come down to 2 tough choices??

Thanks for the input, Jay

SeaDation - Yes I have it activated and it really makes it nice to know where a cell is and which way it is moving. We were coming back to the dock the other day and saw a storm in front of us, all we had to do was look at the screen to tell that it was moving sideways to us and wouldn't be a factor. Is it worth $50.00 a month? time will tell but it makes me alot more comfortable with all the storms that pop up from nowhere.
