Default A few Questions about Raymarine ST8001 Autopilot

Sorry I am new and want to buy this device.
-Is the difference between S1 & S1G the learning capability?
-What is the auto Speed Gain? Does that mean it will adjust your speed as well, if so, would you need a specific throtle?
-Same Question, about auto trim!!?
-What does Rudder Feedback do?

david - I have had both the S1 and S1G - the bottom line is you wnat the S1G model - it incorporates an gyro stabilizer and add'l software that make the boat steer much better than the non gyro model.

Without it there are many adjustments you have to make and you're never sure you got them all right the "g" makes them all work perfectly together

don't know what the auto sped gain is
auto trim is another adj hat the g takes care of.. I think
rudderfeed back is the weak part of any system - it is a mechanical device attached to your rudders or outboards that tell the computer what position they are in...

I am waiting for Ray to comeout with their verado system which is to have no rudder feedback mechanism - all computed by steering pump and software...

When is the Verado set to be released?
mid - sept - no rudder feedback - reduced installation time - all the features of the TR-1 but a lot less money....

Inside source ?* Will the trolling patterns be included in the firmware ?* Maybe I'll offer Vin $100 for his TR-1

no trolling patterns at first but a software upgrade to include them later...but has the shadow drive - you can just steer to dodge if it is engaged and then when you lt go it will return to course...at least thats tha plan acc to my sources...
