Default Help with Raymarine Radar

I just purchased a '92 Pursuit with original electronics on it. It has a Raymarine open array antenna with a R21X radar system. The disply unit seems to be faulty. Display comes and goes. I was wondering if anyone knew what displays are compatible with the open array antenna I have. I would like to find a newer/new one to match up to the antenna.

I spoke to a dealer last week about the same thing (except I have a 4KW radome). They said that for pre '94 radars, you will need to get the serial # from the radar to see if it's compatible with the newer displays. Good news will be if you can update it for the new displays (approx $350), bad news will be if it cannot be updated. Obviously the display you have is compatible. Which one do you have ? I have an RL70CRC which should also be compatible. Also, they told me that Raymarine is selling some new older units like the RL70 for around $1200 which is a great price compared to what they originally sold for.

The x and xx series units are not compatible. If you get the display working that is a very good radar!

I would have Raymarine Service tell me that the repair would cost 50% of a new unit unless your really looking to spend the money!!!

The flat rate repair for an RL70 is $1100. A local dealer may be able to repair for less. Or take advantage of the deal I mentioned earlier. Or, there's always eBay

I will try to get the model numbers off of the antenna as well as the display unit. I have never owned a boat with a radar, but if I can get this one working without a huge expense I would like to fix it. If it is too much to repair, then I will probably end up removing the entire thing and selling it. I have heard from a number of people that this is a very good radar, this is why I would like to get it working.

It has a very good display with good detail as it is a crt. There are many of them down here that are used on work boats.
