Roof or rail VHF Mount?

I am will soon be mounting my 8 foot digital VHF antenna. I have 1 inch stainless railing on both sides of the roof. Will the railing stand up to mounting this antenna to it via a stainless rachet mount or should i mount it to the roof?

I would use a SS Ratchet Mount and mount it to the roof. I would only use a rail mount a a last resort

I used a rail mount cause I didnt want to cut and drill into my T-top. Turns out I like it much better since you don't have to climb up on the gunnel to raise and lower your antenna. Its still very much out of the way. I'd have it done that way again.
