Default Another C-120 question??

A couple of months ago, I posted a problem i was having w/ the c-120's depth(DSM250). It would keep saying DSM connection lost. Then the next day out it would be fine, and everthing worked. Well now a couple of days ago it stoped saying DSM connection lost and it was still not working. So i checked the unit, and it was not recieving any power what so ever (this is just the DSM - gps function still works). We have checked all fuses and pretty sure all of the connections and wiring to it. Could the problem be th DSM unit itself or what else could it be??? thanks.

Every time I start the motor that's connected to the house batteries the DSM goes out and say's it lost data, or something like that. I have been figuring it's losing voltage during start. There are cures and I think they are expensive. My experience tells me the units are very "voltage sensitive".

The DSM's are very sensitive to insufficient voltage. My batteries are marginal, and I can tell as the DSM Connection Lost warning pops up when I start my engine with the C120 running.

I had isolation/low voltage problems (and at times, a somewhat anemic alternator) on my boat, and as an on the fly stop gap I added a NewMar Startguard. It performs like a UPS when hooked to a computer. Works great, quick install if your wiring is acccesible. Here's their link:

Because of what I have invested in my electronics now, and how I've come to rely on them, I'll probably never have another boat without one.
